DIAMONDS Study
Study profileDescription
DIAMONDS (Diagnosis and Management of febrile Illness using RNA Personalised Molecular Signature Diagnosis) is an observational cohort study aimed at developing diagnostic methods for febrile and inflammatory diseases, including COVID-19 and multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children (MIS-C). The consortium includes partners across 11 EU countries and the UK, Switzerland, Gambia, Nepal, and Taiwan. Originally focused on febrile illness, DIAMONDS has adapted its recruitment strategy in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, incorporating RNA transcriptional profiling to better understand COVID-19 and related inflammatory diseases in children.
Sponsor: Imperial College London
Countries involved: Australia, Austria, France, Gambia, Germany, Greece, Italy, Latvia, Nepal, Netherlands, Spain, Switzerland, Slovenia, Taiwan, United Kingdom
Sample size: 5000 across all ages (mostly children)
